Whether you are looking for advertising flags for trade shows, stores, events, or sports games, we can help you. But, it is essential to be knowledgeable on how to properly install these flags to achieve their full impact.

We will walk you through these comprehensive guides on how to install these flags. The step-by-step procedures are easy to follow, you don’t have to sweat or get overwhelmed. Before the installation proper, there are several elements that you need to take into consideration first. These include the tools to be used, the location where to place it, and the manpower requirement for installation.

Getting Ready for Installation

Secure all the necessary tools before you start installing these advertising flags. Based on experience, getting them ready and having these tools within your reach saves you time in installing. Below are some of the tools you can use to install the flags.

  1. Mallet: You can use a mallet or a hammer to help you secure the flag base into the ground. If the soil surface is hard, these will help you put pressure into inserting the pole into the surface.
  2. Tape measure: Some sources will tell you to secure a measuring tape before getting started. If you are unsure about the distance of where to install the flags, you get a tape measure to make sure that things are aligned and properly placed.
  3. Weighted base. This will keep your flagpole in place especially if the location is windy. In some cases, the weighted base is filled up with water to keep things secured on the ground. These also keep things stable and avoid the flag pole from moving unnecessarily side-by-side.
  4. Flagpole kit: Make sure that everything is ready and there is no missing accessory in order not to delay the installation.

Scout for the right location

The right location is one of the key elements to having a properly installed advertising flag. Imagine if you place your flags in a street that is seldom used by people. It would be pointless to have your advertisement placed right there.

Think what would happen to an advertising flag placed in a windy spot. If your flag base doesn’t have any weighted base or strong support chances are it will get blown away. If this happens, you have wasted your time, resources, and money. So take time to scout for the right location and make sure that your flag is placed where a lot of people can see it.

Below are some of the things you need to consider when looking for the right location for visibility and impact.

  1. Foot Traffic. Check the area and evaluate if there is heavy foot traffic. If your advertising flag is placed in a corner with low foot traffic, the advertising impact is low. The foot traffic or vehicle traffic should be high for you to reach high visibility.
  2. Weather conditions. Check the weather condition of the area. Are they prone to having storms in the location? Is the place of the event a windy spot? The weather and wind conditions need to be checked to make sure that your flags won’t get damaged by extreme wind or harsh weather.
  3. Practice Safety Precautions: When choosing the location where to install your advertising flag, make sure that safety is a top priority. Remember these flags should be placed in strategic locations. It should not block any entrances, or driveways or obstruct any pathways.
  1. Be Compliant. Before putting up any installation, make sure that you have secured all the necessary permits and are in compliance with local and national regulations. The last thing that you want is to have your advertising flags removed because of non-compliant with any rules. Talk to the people in charge and make sure that your documents are correct and complete.

Install Advertising Flags

Now that you have the tools with you and have determined the place where to install it, it is time to properly install the advertising flags. Some manufacturers have carry cases for convenience and ease of transport.

Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to properly install the flags.

Step 1: Check the flagpole kit

Make sure that the tools and kit are complete and with all the necessary accessories to get started. The common case includes the following:

●       Locking strap

●       Feather flag

●       Drive stake

●       Poles

If you order an advertising flag from Everest Prints, expect to receive the three parts:

●       Flag

●       Pole

●       Base

The flag can be customized to your preference. The pole is made up of aluminum and fiberglass and usually comes in 3 to 5 parts. The bases come in different variations depending on the usage and surface type. Some bases need to be filled out with 20 kg of water, others have spikes and heavy iron plates.

Step 2: Prepare the Flagpole

Depending on the instructions given, start to assemble the flagpoles. Start with the thinnest pole until you get to the last part. The thick part is the last one as this helps the flagpole to stay stable. You may insert each pole one at a time, or you may assemble all poles before inserting them into the flag opening. The opening is usually found at the bottom part.

Step 3: Insert pole to flag pocket

Now it’s time to insert the pole into the flag’s pocket. Make sure that the pole top reaches the end of the pocket. You can then tie the flag on the pole. There are two types of pocket style: elastic string style and adjustable hook style.

Elastic string style: Tie the elastic string into a knot and loop it around the pole’s base.

Adjustable hook style: Pull the bottom of the flag, attach the loop into the adjustable hook at the bottom of the pole.

Step 4: Place a marker on your installation area

With the aid of a measuring tape, put a mark on the location or the surface where you want the flag to be installed. This is useful whenever you have to install a lot of advertising flags in one area. This makes sure that the flags are evenly distributed and that there is equal space between them. This makes it even more visually appealing to the crowd. Have you seen several flags with unequal spacing? Imagine two flags that are about 1 foot away from each other. Then the next set of flags is about two feet and the other set is a meter away. It does not look appealing and could hurt your marketing effort.

Step 5: Make sure the base is secured

If you are installing flags in windy spots, make sure that there are weights on the base to keep it in place. The flags won’t deliver the message if they keep on tumbling down. The flags should be kept stable at a level position at all times despite being in challenging positions. At Everest Prints, we make sure that they are made durable and could withstand changing environmental conditions.

If you will be using a hammer or a mallet, one important thing is to hit the driven stake and not the metal where the pole will be inserted. If you hit the latter, it could get difficult to insert the pole later on. If the surface is made of soft ground, use the hammer to safely secure the position.

Step 6: Raise the Flagpole

It’s now time to raise your flagpole. Check the flag’s orientation and make the necessary adjustments to make sure that it is securely and properly in its place. It should stand straight and stable. Check if the design is displayed properly and not upside down.

Step 7: Test and Adjust

Once everything is installed, make sure that everything is aligned. You can check for any damage, folding, or twisting of the flags. Rotate the flags, and check the strength of the poles. Adjust the orientation to make sure that the elements of the design are visible.

Step 8: Ask for opinions (optionally)

You can ask for the opinion of the passersby to evaluate if they can see the messaging of the banners. Make the necessary adjustments based on your evaluation.

How to check and care for your flags

Installing your advertising flag is one thing, but keeping them in good shape is another. You should learn how to properly take good care of them to make sure you get the best value for your money. Proper maintenance and care are critical to make sure that its lifespan is extended.

  1. Take time to inspect it regularly: A small tear could be the start of huge damage later on especially if the flags are placed outside. Make sure that you inspect for any damage and get it fixed as early as possible. Tighten any loose fittings right away so the pole stays stable.
  2. Get it cleaned up. If the contract for the flags is extended over a long period. Schedule a time to have it cleaned up. It is no use if the flag is covered in dust and people won’t be able to read the message in it or see the design. Avoid using any toxic chemicals in cleaning it up. Gentle soap, water, and soft scrub will do the trick.
  3. Check for flag replacement: Advertising flags are prone to wear and tear. Sometimes it is better to have it replaced than leave it as it is making it prone to accidents and safety issues.
  4. Check for changing weather conditions: Advertising flags left outside are more prone to changing seasons and extreme weather conditions. Check for any upcoming storm surge. It would be better to have it uninstalled in the meantime. You can always put it back once the weather is back to normal.

These days there are plenty of advertising mediums you can choose from. Thanks to technology, digital advertising is also changing the landscape. But despite these changes, traditional advertising in the form of advertising flags is a simple yet effective way to get your message across.
