How to Install Hemmed Vinyl Banners

Poor installation leads to damage thus shortening the lifespan of your banners. You don’t want your marketing budget to go to waste right? That’s why it is important to know how to properly ensure that these banners are secured.

With hemmed vinyl banners, the edges of the materials are stitched. This adds more reinforcement and strength to the material. In addition, it also increases the chance of your banners being durable for a long period. Below is a guide on how to properly install this banner.

1. Use grommets and ropes

If the advertising banner is to be placed outdoors, it is advisable to use grommets and installation ropes to hang your banners. Do consider that there are outside elements such as heavy rain, snow, and extreme sunlight you may use ropes to keep it in place. The latter provides more flexibility. Below are some factors to take in when installing hemmed vinyl banners with grommets and ropes.

  • Mark the spot where the grommets will be placed and then carefully insert them. If you are going to order from us, the grommets are already attached on the hemming edges providing you with more convenience.
  • Insert the ropes through the grommets and tie them on a fence or your anchor points.
  • Check the banner and make sure the design is clear. Make necessary adjustments.

2. Use bungee cords and hooks

Unlike the ropes which are fixed on the tightness. These bungee cords are more flexible. This is also ideal when you are installing the banners outdoors. You can use bungee cords when placing vinyl banners in windy areas. Here’s how to install a hemmed vinyl banner using bungee cords and hooks:

  • Determine your anchor points and place your hooks in them. Let’s say you want the banner on a fence, and place those hooks on strategic points in that fence.
  • Once the hooks are in place, place the bungee cords that are inserted through the grommets of the banner.
  • Pull the bungee cords and attach those hooks.
  • Adjust the tightness of the cord as you deem necessary.

3. Use zip ties for installing

Zip ties are ideal when you are installing banners either indoors or outdoors. The material is also strong and makes sure that your advertisement stays in place. To properly use zip ties when installing, check out the steps below.

  • Mark the spot where the grommets will be placed and then carefully insert them. If the grommets are already attached when you purchased the banner, proceed to the second step.
  • Insert the zip tie through the grommets and tie them on a fence, a pillar, or other structure of the building to be used as anchor points.
  • Check the tension and make sure that the banner’s design is perfectly displayed.

  • Do not attach a banner on unstable anchor points or objects

If you are installing the banners, make sure that your anchor points are not wobbly to avoid any accidents. It should be stable enough to stand against strong winds.

  • Use all the grommets

Do not skip the grommets. They are there to make sure that your banners are secured properly. If you missed out on some of the grommets, it can negatively impact the visual presentation of the banner. Thus, it would fail to capture the audience’s attention.

  • Do not overtighten or leave it hanging loose

If the banner is too tightly installed, it could easily tear or get damaged. On the other hand, if the banner is loosely hung, the design won’t be presented well.

  • Hanging without fixing the wrinkles or creases

Before installing the banners, make sure that you fixed the wrinkles. This impacts the visual presentation of the design.

  • Do not place the banner on areas with too much heat or moisture

If you are installing a banner, make sure that it’s not placed in areas where there is direct sunlight or too much moisture. These factors can affect the lifespan of the materials used.

  • Do not leave the banner without checking

After the installation, make sure to do a quality check of your output. If the banner looks uneven, make the necessary adjustment. If you want to avoid this rework, make sure to use a measuring tool and mark the areas first before actually installing it.

  • Do not overcrowd the banners

Make sure to practice proper distancing in between banners to optimize its purpose. If you overcrowd these banners, some of the designs might get overshadowed.

  • Wrong choice of banner installation

If you are installing a banner make sure that there are no obstructions around it. If the banner is placed outside, the visibility should be taken into consideration. No trees or tall buildings should get in the way. If the banners are placed indoors, it should not block people’s way. Imagine going to a room and having to wrestle your way around banners. It could get frustrating for your audience.
